Citrus County’s longest running juried art show gets a new look in 2018 with more fine art exhibits and a new layout on Courthouse Square. The art show is free to attend and has free parking. Enjoy a wide range of fine art from watercolors, oil paintings, photography and mixed media. New this year, Chalk Art Exhibit, more live music and the Inverness Plein Air Competition.

Art Show Judges
Thomas Gilbert of Deland, Florida
Thomas Gilbert has been the Art Department Chairman and Art Teacher for over 12 years at Deland High School in Volusia County. He also works as the Fine Arts Consultant to the Florida School of the Arts in Palatka. As a National Board Art Teacher, he was recognized for his Leadership by the Florida First Lady’s ARTS Recognition Program in 2001. Gilbert has also served as an Adjunct Art Professor for Daytona Beach Community College and was an art award recipient in 1990 by the Pratt Institute National Talent Search. He has a Masters in Art Education from the University of South Florida and has exhibited his own works and won many awards in original sculpture, ceramics, and photography throughout the State of Florida.
Thomas Prestopnik of Port St. Lucie, Florida
Thomas Prestopnik was an Art Teacher for over 20 years at South Fork High School where he was also a founding board member of the Martin County Council of the Arts. During his time on the board he lobbied to establish an art scholarship for Martin County High School. Prestopnik has been a very long time member of the Florida Art Education Association where he was selected in 2008 to represent Art in the State by presenting a speech at the Capitol Building in Tallahassee. In 1993 he had a painting selected as “Best in Show” at the Museum of Art in Boca Raton. In 2003 he was awarded the distinction of “Florida’s High School Art Educator of the Year”. Also in 2003 Prestopnik was awarded “Outstanding Visual Artist in Martin County”. Since his retirement in 2004, he volunteers in the Art Gallery for the Arts Council in Martin County and continues to pursue his artistic endeavors in his art studio at home. Most recently, in 2018, Prestopnik has been selected as a recipient for an award in “Arts Leadership” by the Arts Council in Martin County for his fantastic commitment to the Arts in the community.
