The locals have known Inverness as a bass fishing hotspot for years. In recent years, the City and Apopka Marine have partnered together to present the Inverness Big Bass Classic.

This fishing tournament has a $1,000 an hour payout draws hundreds of anglers to compete and has lured additional bass fishing tournaments here making Lake Henderson a bass fishing hotspot.

Fresh water fishers will find performance in any condition with a variety of spincasting, baitcasting or trolling rods, reels and combos.

Flipping is a good type of fishing in the heavy vegetation, top water early in the morning and on overcast days.

The shell bars are good places to hit also.  Buck Bray, Bud Andrews, Fred London are some old time names in bass fishing here.

Whether you are a bass fisherman or a speck fisherman Inverness is a great venue for all fresh water fishing. There’s plenty of tournament events here and just plain leisure fishing big bass are plentiful, several boat friendly motels.

Boat trailer parking is across the street at Wayside Park, where picnic tables and grills provide a scenic setting for a picnic.

North Apopka Ave. Boat Ramp

The boat ramp provides access to Little and Big Lake Henderson and the Tsala Apopka Lake chain. It's most suitable for smaller watercraft, including kayaks and canoes. Larger vessels will find the Wayside Park facility to better suit their needs.

Picnic tables and a grill are available at the North Apopka boat ramp, providing a quieter spot for a lunch. There is limited parking for vehicles and boat trailers. The ramp is within walking distance of Liberty Park, Wallace Brooks Park and numerous shops and restaurants downtown.
