MLK Unity Walk & Presentation

Inverness, Fla.– The public is invited to attend the City of Inverness and the New Church Without Walls celebration of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. New this year, the walk will start at the Inverness Military Memorial, 212 W. Main Street, Inverness. At 9:00 a.m. the Unity Walk will travel through the Courthouse Square and end at the Valerie Theatre. Following the walk, Dr. Douglas Alexander Sr. will open the program inside the theater. 

The program includes reflections from 12 community leaders. Following the speakers, Dr. Frederick Simmons will recite the emotionally stirring, “I Have a Dream Speech” and Pastor Tammy Langley will sing. 

At 10:30 a.m. the Valerie Theatre will present a free showing of the acclaimed 2016 film, “Hidden Figures”, a story of a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program.

9:00 a.m. Walk to Valerie Theatre, 207 Courthouse Square, Inverness

9:15 a.m. Presentation on the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the theater.
