Longest running juried art show in Citrus County
There’s so many festivals and events in downtown Inverness during the “high season!” One of my recent posts was about bicycling down the Withlacoochee State Trail to the Cooter Festival. Friends biked down for the Inverness Festival of the Arts, too. What a great way to get some fresh air and exercise, and then not have to worry about a parking space for a vehicle! Inverness has numerous bike racks throughout downtown, so my friends not only viewed and bought art, but enjoyed a tasty lunch at Stumpknockers on the Square.
With the high season getting underway, there are more people on the Trail, so it’s important for cyclists to announce their approach with a friendly, “On your left!” to pedestrians and slower cyclists. I watch carefully for dogs – they’re usually their wonderful, friendly selves, but sometimes their leads are long enough for them to swerve across the path. (It is still hard for me not to jump off my bike and pet those cute little fur babies!)
Give yourself the time to enjoy this beautiful time of year in Florida! Bike south from Inverness to Ferris Groves and have one of their strawberry milkshakes. Bike north and enjoy a hearty lunch at the Burger Station or Chicken King. Or pack a picnic lunch and stop by one of the many tranquil lakes. Good times!
